1. Information We Collect

We collect the following information when you use JoyStitch:

• Account information: Email address, username, display name, and profile photo.
• Content: Photos, captions, comments, and messages you create.
• Usage data: Interactions such as likes, follows, and challenge entries, and clicks on shop links (which item, when, and your account if you are logged in).
• Website statistics: Anonymous visit statistics for joystitch.app (which pages are viewed, for how long, the referring website, device type and language). We do not use cookies for this and do not store your IP address: a visitor is identified only by a code that changes every day and cannot be traced back to you.
• Device information: Device type, operating system, and push notification tokens.
• Abuse prevention: When you sign up or log in, we store a one-way encrypted code (hash) of your IP address on your account. We cannot see or recover your IP address from it; it only lets us notice when several accounts are created from the same network, to prevent misuse of invite rewards.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and improve the App's features.
• To send you notifications (which you can control in Settings).
• To enforce our Terms of Service and community guidelines.
• To generate AI descriptions and tags for posts of your stitching, to read the thread legend of a pattern you scan, and to turn your photo into a cross-stitch pattern when you use photo to pattern (processed server-side).

3. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with:

• Other users: Your profile, posts, and activity are visible to other users as part of the social experience.
• JoyStitch on Pinterest: Popular stitching may be shared as a Pin on the official JoyStitch Pinterest account, always with your username and a link to the post. You can switch this off at any time in the App under Settings → Social media; existing Pins are then removed.
• Service providers: We use Cloudflare (image storage), Resend (email), and Expo (push notifications) to operate the App.
• Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law.

4. Data Storage

Your data is stored on secure servers. Images are stored on Cloudflare R2. We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data.

5. Your Rights

• Access: You can view your data through the App.
• Correction: You can edit your profile and content at any time.
• Deletion: You can request account deletion through Settings. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.
• Data portability: Contact us to request a copy of your data.

6. Push Notifications

You can control which push notifications you receive in the App's notification settings. Disabling push notifications does not affect in-app notifications.

7. Cookies

The website uses a small number of functional cookies: one to keep you logged in (if you log in on the website), one to remember your language, and one for admin authentication. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies; our website statistics work without cookies. Shop links may lead to partner stores (such as bol.com) that set their own cookies to credit a purchase to JoyStitch. The mobile app does not use cookies.

8. Children's Privacy

JoyStitch is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the App.
